Milongas (dance parties)
-Abrazo, the Queer Milonga. Every 3rd Saturday of the month we gather to dance, prance and make merry. Always a Beginner / fundamentals class 7 – 8 pm. Yep, our queer tango favorites Dan y Pier have class every Thursday at the Beat in Berkeley and LOTS of queer tango dancers go. 8-9 Fundamentals class. 9-10 Progressive Class. –Tango Classe and Practica with Jonas and Monza. Yep, two wonderful peeps, Mr. Wonderful and Ms. Grace Power, who regularly teach our queer tango classes on Sundays, also host (along with the ever lovely Cristian, Mr. Rock and Roll) a set of tango classes and a nice long practica with great music every single Saturday: Practilonga La Vida. Check it out on Tango Mango. It does not get much friendlier than this peeps–and it’s a great chance to practice among tango kindreds. They are also available for privates and small group classes. –Allegro Ballroom: A GREAT place to practice whenever you want. $10 bucks for the whole day (or $10 per hour with a teacher). Bring a partner, some music, pick a room and tango away! –Tuesday Night Tango in Palo Alto. South Bay peeps are covered! Progressive monthly series with Leslie Gordon every Tuesday: www.tntango.com. In these classes, everyone learns both roles. This class is assisted by a lovely queer tango dancer, Rich. All are welcome.
-TangoMujer:: Retreats for Women: “Be both a leader and a follower.” Two enormously talented women of tango, and founders of TangoMujer (the first all-women’s dance company in the world), Brigitta Winkler and Sharna Fabiano, offer week-long tango retreats for woman to learn both roles in exquisite natural environments: Oregon – Nov. 19-22, 2015, Maui – March 6-13, 2016, Vermont – June 2-5, 2016, Tuscany – June 2016.
