Saturday November 21 | 8-9:30 PM (PST/ San Francisco)
The zoom will light up with a live dance performance from Liliana Chenlo & Roxane Camargo (Buenos Aires); musical guest, guitarist and singer, Maleva Santomil (Buenos Aires); and Pierre Baston (Philadelphia) will present a special lecture The Dawn of Tango: “African Roots.” We felt we could also use a bit of art, and so our very own artist and queer tango dancer Nicole Roberts (SF/ Buenos Aires) will present a couple of her pieces (beautiful images of queer tango) and discuss her work.
DJs Mackerelmint and Madeleine make music magic and work the zoom! Of course we will have our birthday vals, and one never knows what alternative songs will blast out.
3:30-4:30 (PST/ SF)
We offer you an hour, every Sunday, to take a break from the blah blah blah. This month, an international + hometown line up of teachers awaits you:
Nov 1: Astrid Weiske of Queer Tango Berlin
Nov 8: Carlos Blanco and Rey Flores of Tango Queer Mexico
Nov 15, 22 and 29: Mira Barakat of Queer Tango in the SF Bay Area
Our teachers have been so very creative and impressive in developing zoom tango classes: a mix of solo drills, exercises, musicality instruction, sequences to play with and move to + plenty of time to say hello and catch up with your tango peeps.
ZOOM is where the magic is happening
